Mr. Ellis Nelson Nash Jr.

The passing of Ellis Nelson Nash, 69, of Danielsville, will leave some voids in our life. Born on May 3, 1956, Nelson passed away on April 22, 2026, quietly at his home, after a long battle with cancer. He fought a good fight and was one of the strongest people. He was a good husband, father, and friend to so many of you. He loved everyone that was close to him, and he loved his family, especially his granddaughters. Nelson was always a hard worker. His work ethic was very strong, and it ran 24/7. He was a cattle farmer for many years and worked for Russell Research in Athens. In these later years, he worked with his privately owned construction company, Nash Construction, in conjunction with Nash HVAC. Every fall when the Georgia Dawgs came out with their season, he was right there with them in spirit. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan and many of you came to support the Dawgs with him, no matter how much they won or lost. He could definitely get people to rally. Nelson was also a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and carried his spirituality in his heart. He loved his God and spread opportunities to others who were less fortunate. Some of those were anonymous donations, groceries, whatever family in need could use. Many of you did not know that he did that, and that was how he wanted it. Following Nelson’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service. Only his immediate family for a private gathering and spreading of his ashes around his farm that he loved so well. So please do not be offended by his request. He loved life but could also be very private. Therefore, with a very heavy heart, the family asks that you continue to pray for them as they take a new and unfamiliar road of grief. He will always be in the hearts and minds of everyone who loved him. Nelson is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kerry Cannon Nash; (son) Adam Nash (Lucy); daughter, Lindsey Nash Byrd (Justin); grandchildren, Emmerson Nash, Charlee Ann Byrd, and Reagan Nash; sister, Elaine Belfield. Family members who have preceded Nelson in death are his parents, Faye, and Ellis Nash; sister, Teresa Nash Spratlin; and grandmother, Ruth Adams Fortson.
