Mrs. Janice Grubbs Phillips-King

Mrs. Janice Grubbs Phillips-King, 72, of the Sandy Cross Community in Royston, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Brown Health and Rehabilitation in Royston, GA. She was the wife of the late James E. King of Royston. She had lived in the Sandy Cross Community her entire adult life. Mrs. Phillips was born on February 21, 1951, daughter of the late Belton Grubbs and the late Merle Haley Grubbs. Mrs. Phillips retired from Tenneco Automotive and enjoyed being home on her property gardening, cutting wood, mowing grass, making crafts, Facebooking and games, and spending time with her animals and close family. Throughout her life she was very close to her siblings and loved her many nieces and nephews. On Sundays she enjoyed visiting with family at her parent’s home. She was of the Baptist Faith and considered Zidon Baptist Church her home church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Tracy Phillips Brown; son-in-law, Mark Hart; grandson, Cody Hart; sister, Barbara Ralston; and brothers, George Grubbs, Jimmy Grubbs, Dan Grubbs, and Medford Grubbs. Survivors include her daughters, Tammy Phillips Hart and Tina Renea Phillips; grandchildren, Erica Chappell Taylor (caregiver), Colten Hart, Mitchell Felty, Jerico Brown, Nicholas Bowen, and Bella Carey; and great-grandchildren, KayLeigh Chappell (caregiver), KenzLeigh Fain (caregiver), Troy Chappell (T.J.), Jaxon Taylor, Levi Hart, Kimber Hart, Jolee Hart, Briar Hart, Sage Hart, Laila Hart, and Trace Hart. She also had several furry companions that she loved dearly; Cooper, Zoe, Madison, Roxie, and Baby. Mrs. Phillips had an extended illness caused from a brain aneurysm and then a horrific fall in which she had significant injuries. She spent time at Grady Hospital, then Landmark Hospital and Greenpoint Rehabilitation. She was then brought home to be cared for by her loving granddaughter and great-granddaughters who took pride in providing her with the best care in the home that Mrs. Phillips loved. Finally, she was at Brown Health and Rehabilitation on hospice care. Funeral services for Mrs. Phillips will be held in the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023, with Rev. Andy Bond and Rev. Bert Synan officiating. Interment will follow in Cary Memorial Gardens in Royston, GA. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. During other times the family will be at their respective homes. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
