Mrs. Louneal Phillips Martin

Mrs. Louneal Phillips Martin, 90, of Royston, GA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center in Macon. Mrs. Martin was born in Royston, GA on October 10, 1935, daughter of the late Howard Payne Phillips and the late Veba Lane Smith Phillips. A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Martin dedicated her life to caring for her family and serving her community with grace and compassion. She was a homemaker, caregiver, and substitute teacher whose kindness touched countless lives throughout the years. Mrs. Martin was also the long-time owner and operator of the Hobby Shop of Royston, where she shared her creativity and passions with the community. She created a limited-edition Ty Cobb memorabilia portrait, which is displayed throughout the city and in various government offices. Deeply committed to her hometown, she played an instrumental role in establishing the Royston Fall Festival, which she faithfully organized for many years. In her spare time, she volunteered extensively in county and government offices, including assisting with voter registration records. Mrs. Martin will be remembered for her servant’s heart, community spirit, and unwavering love for her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wilburn Martin; daughter-in-law, Karen C. Martin; son-in-law, Johnny Cochran; and sister, Sally Phillips. Survivors include her son, Billy Michael “Mike” Martin (Sharon Givens) of Royston, GA; daughter, Carol Cochran of Canon, GA; brother, Gene Phillips (Louise) of Royston, GA; grandchildren, Lacie Martin Bennett (Jonathan), Crystal Beasley (Jones), and Chris Cochran (Christal); and great-grandchildren, MaCaylee Childs, Camryn Childs, Chloie Cochran, Brandon Eason and Bentleigh Glaze A graveside service for Mrs. Martin will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 24, 2026, in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston, with Rev. Don Nester officiating. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until funeral hour on Sunday afternoon. During other times, the family will be at their respective homes.
