Ms. Georgie Whiten Thain Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ms. Georgie Lee Whiten Thain, 88, of Royston, GA passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville, GA. Ms. Georgie was born on August 11, 1932 in Carnesville, GA, daughter of the late Jones Edward Whiten and the late Anna Grace Segars Whiten. She was a forest ranger having worked with the Georgia Forestry Commission and retired after 27 years of service. Once retired she received her certified nursing assistant license and volunteered at Cobb Memorial Hospital for over 10 years. She was a member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club and was also a member of Grace Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Ivester; and sisters, Kathleen Andrews and Margaret Kelly. Survivors include her sons, Lloyd Ivester (Rhonda) of Carnesville, GA and Edwin Ivester (Nancy) of Seguin, TX; brothers, Thomas Whiten of Griffin, GA and Edwin Whiten of Cross Hill, SC; grandchildren, Shelly Hollis (Clayton) of Danielsville, GA, Christopher Ivester (Amanda) of Lawrenceville, GA, Savannah Ivester of Carnesville, GA, Carley Crowe of Carnesville, GA, Carey Crowe (Kaitlin) of Danielsville, GA, Jacob Lutz of Brooklyn, NYC, and Emily Haselhorst (Eric) of Austin, TX; great grandchildren, Logan D. Rector, Austin B. Rector and Serenity G. Hollis, all of Danielsville, GA, Jack W. Haselhorst and William T. Haselhorst of Austin, TX and Carter Crowe of Danielsville, GA. Graveside services for Ms. Georgie will be held in the Franklin Memorial Gardens-North in Lavonia, GA at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020, with Rev. Andy Huff officiating. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The family is at the home of Lloyd Ivester, 7267 Stonebridge Road, Carnesville, GA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church, P.O. Box 183, Royston, GA 30662. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
