Glenna "Dean" Rice
December 23, 1949 - November 25, 2015
Glenna “Dean” Rice, 65, died peacefully surrounded by love on Wednesday, November 25, 2015, in Augusta, GA, after an extended battle with multiple sclerosis. She was born in Mobile, AL, to David Franklin Rice and Gloria Dean Busby Rice in 1949. Dean lived in Royston, GA, for the majority of her childhood and graduated from Franklin County High School (class of 1967). She lived in Atlanta for some time, earning an Associate’s Degree from Clayton Jr. College and working for Arthur Anderson. Dean’s hobbies were sewing, needlepoint, reading, and entertaining. Later she settled in Augusta, GA, and entered Windermere Nursing home at the age of 49 due to the severity of her MS. Forever an optimist, Dean never let her health distract her from living each day to its fullest. She passed on with dignity and grace while holding her best friend’s hand; Dean will be missed by all who knew her. Dean is survived by her brother Earl Rice and Connie Rice of Ila, GA; brother Jerrell Massey and Rita Massey of Cannon, GA; daughters Paula Scott Rice of Berkeley, CA, and Amanda Nezzie & Dave Nezzie of Albuquerque, NM. She now is the personal angel for her grandchildren Henry David, Esther May, and baby Sage Nezzie. Dean will be greatly missed by her dear friend Charlotte Sudderth of Augusta, GA, and the FCHS community. Dean’s instructions were that there will be no formal memorial service.
