Mrs. Gloria Ridgway Langford

Mrs. Gloria Ridgway Langford, 92, of Athens, GA passed away Saturday morning, February 6, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospice House. Gloria was born on November 4, 1928 in Royston, GA to the late Blanche and Lemuel Ridgway. She was the youngest of four girls and the last surviving member of her family. Those who were lucky enough to know Gloria loved her sense of humor and her quick wit. She was a member of Beech Haven Baptist Church in Athens, GA. Gloria loved to write little notes to her friends and would often pass the days chatting on the phone. In her earlier years, Gloria worked in the Trust Department at C&S Bank in Athens. She loved to travel, read, watch an occasional game show on TV and most of all spend time with her family. In addition to her parents, Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Howard Langford, whom she proudly married in June of 1948; sisters, Betty McGarity (Ralph) of Royston, Frances Roberts (Charles) of Elberton, and Eugenia Maddox (Harry) of Senoia; and grandson, Mark M. Ham V of Gainesville. Gloria is survived by her two daughters whom she loved dearly, Beth Nunnally of Watkinsville, GA and Eugenia Ham and son-in-law, Mark Ham IV, of Gainesville, GA. She was a wonderful “Mamoo” and is survived by two grandchildren, Howard Nunnally of Athens, GA and Jenny Givens (Scott) of Cumming, GA. Gloria also was blessed to know and love four great grandchildren, Maddie and James Givens and Eli and Mary Katherine Ham; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Mrs. Langford will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, with Rev. Matt Parker officiating. The family is at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospital Rehabilitation Center, 1230 Baxter Street, Athens, GA 30606 or St. Mary’s Hospice House, 1660 Jennings Mill Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
