Mr. John “Jack” Douglas Parker, 90, of Royston, GA passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 10, 2020. Mr. Parker was born in San Diego, CA on July 18, 1930, son of the late John Paul Parker and the late Irene Haskins Parker. Jack loved his country and having lost his father during World War II, Jack followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the United States Navy in 1947. He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 30 years of faithful service. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, served as a member of the Lions Club for many years, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he loved attending and being with his church family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Marie Ware Parker; brother, Gerald Parker; and sister, Calista Wells. Survivors include his step-daughters, Lily Morgan and Sara Taylor both of Texas; and step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. A graveside service with military honors for Mr. Parker will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020, in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Andy Huff officiating. In lieu of flowers; memorials may be made to the Grace Baptist Church Building Fund at P.O. Box 183 Royston, GA 30662. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
