Mr. Jim Askew, Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Jim C. Askew Sr., 83, of Royston, GA passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013, at the St. Mary's Hospice House in Bogart, GA. Mr. Askew was born in Atlanta, GA on May 15, 1930, son of the late James Clab and Donnie Jean Ruff Askew. He was retired from the United States Air Force and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Royston, GA as well as a Mason. Mr. Askew was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Hudson Askew. Survivors include his children, Jim C. Askew, Jr. of Royston, GA and Donna Jean Askew of Austin, TX; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters, Susan N. Burdette of High Falls, GA, Charlotte Procter of Conyers, GA, Bernice Elliott of Austell, GA, and Sherlon Wiseman of Conyers, GA. Funeral services for Mr. Askew will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 08, 2013, at the New Hope Baptist Church in Royston, GA with the Rev. Brian David officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Monday morning. Burial will follow in the Bethel M. Baptist Church cemetery in Danielsville, GA. with full Military Honors. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. The family is at their respective homes. Flowers are optional; memorials may be made to the New Hope Baptist Church, 1697 Shirley Road, Royston, GA 30662. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
