Mrs. Juanita Collins Harris

October 27, 1929 - April 9, 2022

Mrs. Juanita Joan Collins Harris, 92, of Royston, GA passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Mrs. Harris was born in Toccoa, GA on October 27, 1929, daughter of the late William Lewis and Mamie Stancil Collins. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and “Grandmama.” She is remembered as a welcoming hostess and wonderful cook. Out-of-town family and friends knew they would always get a great meal from Juanita’s kitchen whenever they came to visit. Juanita was gifted with a green-thumb; she loved planting her flowers and watching them grow. More importantly, she planted the seed of Christ’s love into so many people throughout her life. Mrs. Harris was a member of Royston Baptist Church, where she previously served as a Children’s Sunday School teacher for 25 years and taught the adult women’s class for 15 years. She was also very involved in Vacation Bible School, Training Union, WMU and helped with many youth activities. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Wesley Wayne Harris, Sr; son-in-law, Hugh King; brothers, CMSGT Herb Collins and CWO3 Dwight Collins; sisters, Jerry Collins Smith and Carolyn Collins Salley; and thirteen brothers and sisters-in-law and twelve of their spouses. Survivors include her children, Beth Harris-King of Lavonia, GA, Dr. Ann Rybolt (Tom)of Chattanooga, TN, Susan LeCroy of Athens, GA, Dr. Wesley Harris (Terri) of Kennesaw, GA and Dr. David Harris (Jina) of Royston, GA; brothers, Dr. Myron Collins (Betty) of Augusta, GA, Rev. Winston Collins (Cheryl) of North Augusta, SC and Douglas Collins (Rebecca) of Blairsville, GA; sisters-in-law, Jane Collins of Davidson, NC and Patsy Harris of Cumming, GA; eighteen grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be held in the Royston Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2022, with Rev. Matt Law and Dr. Tom Rybolt officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston. The family will receive friends at Royston Baptist Church from 2:00 p.m. until funeral hour on Sunday afternoon. During other times the family will be at their respective homes.
