Mrs. Kate Smith

Mrs. Kate Bryant Smith, 95, of Royston, GA passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013, at the Athens Heritage Home in Athens, GA. Mrs. Smith was born in Bowman, GA on January 20, 1918, daughter of the late Morrison Bryant and the late Essie Seigler Bryant. She was retired having worked with Family Dollar in Royston, GA; she loved cooking, baking and gardening to which she was an expert at all three; also, she especially enjoyed sharing her teacakes. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Corinth Congregational Holiness Church in Bowman. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, L.T. Smith. Survivors include her son, Wayne Smith of Royston, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Nita (Buren) Beatenbough of Royston, GA and Sonja (Steve) Tanner also of Royston, GA; grandchildren, Karen Brown, Leisa McCurley, Barkley Smith, Bryan Beatenbough, Barry Beatenbough, Clint Tanner and Kyle Tanner; thirteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Edna (Wayne Glenn) Scales of Anderson, SC. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Willard Crider, Rev. Wayne Hicks and Rev. Harrison Lampley officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens - South in Royston, GA. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening. The family is at the home of Nita and Buren Beatenbough, 360 Beatenbough Road, Canon, GA 30520. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
