Mr. Richard "Rick" Keith Otey Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Richard "Rick" Keith Otey, Sr. of Statesville, NC passed suddenly on July 26. 2022 in Georgia. He was 65 years of age. Mr. Otey was born in Richmond, VA and was the son of the late Sterling and Betty Otey. He served in the United States Army. Rick was retired having worked for Phillip Morris and was a driver for Grayson Mitchell and Wooten Trucking. His greatest love was his family. He loved attending his grandchildren’s activities over the years and was known to most as Pop. He was blessed with a special gift of bringing laughter to others. He enjoyed camping, fishing and boating with family. Rick was genuine and loved from his heart. He was a giving man and helped so many people throughout his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Otey; and great-grandson, Blayne Jones-Johnson. Rick is survived by his wife, Jamie Casey Diaz-Otey (Gran). A son, Keith (Gay) Otey; daughters, Amanda (Jason) Daye, and Amber (Clayton) Waugh all of North Las Vegas, NV. His grandchildren, Tehya Daye, Brooke Daye, Isabella Daye, Olivia Waugh, Peyton Otey and Douglas (Jessica) Jones-Johnson. Honorary grandchildren, Constant Mangongo and Anthony Daniels, Jr.; great grandchildren, Danica and Layla Jones-Johnson. Other survivors include brothers, David (Brenda) Otey, Raymond Otey and Joe Otey; and sisters, Cathy Roynestad, JoAnne Black and Nina (Melvin) Garrett. He has many special nephews and nieces. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church, 1547 Mocksville Highway, Statesville, NC 28625. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
