Mrs. Ellen Williams Hendrix

Mrs. Ellen Williams Hendrix of Royston, GA, cherished wife, and mother, passed away at the age of 75, on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, GA. She endured a long, six-year battle with cancer. In her final moments, she was surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by parents, Asa Boyce Williams and Juanita Muriel Aaron Williams; siblings, Asa Boyce Williams of Wedowee, AL, James D. “Jimmy” Williams of Royston, GA, Roger Williams of Hodges, SC, and Dean Williams of Hodges, SC. She is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Frank Hendrix; daughters Twyla (Ricky) Warden of Brandon, MS, and Janna (Victor) Babson of Suwanee, GA; eight grandchildren, Brittany Warden of Lutz, FL, Layla Warden of Brandon, MS, Deacon Fabro of Brandon, MS, Adley Warden of Souris, Prince Edward Island, Canada, Kara Babson of Suwanee, GA, Asa Babson of Suwanee, GA, Charleigh Warden of Brandon, MS, and Milam Babson of Suwanee, GA; brother, Joel Williams of Hodges, SC; sister, Martha (Max) Turner of Ware Shoals, SC; mother-in-law, Floy Mae Hendrix; many loved brother and sister in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless friends. She was a native of Elbert County, GA, born on February 26, 1948, where she concluded her primary and secondary education. She then attended Forrest College in Anderson, SC. She had a life-long career in insurance, eventually co-owning Paine Insurance & Realty Company and then owning Athena Insurance, both in Athens, GA. She was a voracious reader with an expansive vocabulary and sharp wit. She loved people and was known for being a very giving, helpful, and loving individual. She was also an avid gardener, and particularly enjoyed irises and daylilies. She was a member of Mill Shoal Baptist Church in Royston, GA. Funeral Services for Mrs. Hendrix will be held at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, with Rev. Mike Westbrook officiating. Interment will follow in the Mill Shoal Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening. During other times, the family will be at the home. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
