Mrs. Mildred Inez Miller

Mrs. Mildred Inez Gurley Miller, 90, affectionately known as Micky to her family, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Born on October 9, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Julian Krandell Gurley and the late Alice Frady Gurley. As the oldest of sixteen children, Mildred embraced the responsibility of helping raise her brothers and sisters. She loved each of them deeply and took great pride in the close-knit family they shared throughout their lives. Mildred was married to the love of her life, Rev. Rufus Calvin Miller, for nearly sixty years until his passing in 2012. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and serving others. Her unwavering Christian faith guided every aspect of her life and was evident in the kindness, compassion, and grace she extended to everyone she met. A gifted musician, Mildred taught herself to play the piano, guitar, and harmonica. She found joy in using her talents to glorify the Lord and bless those around her. She also had a creative spirit and enjoyed writing poetry and songs that reflected her faith and life experiences. Mildred's home was always a place of warmth and welcome. She was an exceptional cook and baker whose meals brought family and friends together. Her homemade cakes were especially treasured and became a favorite tradition for those fortunate enough to enjoy them. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Miller of Colbert; son, Anthony Miller (Teresa) of Danielsville; grandchildren, Alicia McMinn (Keith) of Danielsville, Carrie Spangler (Ryan) of Augusta, and Amber Phillips (Tyler) of Danielsville, GA; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Patton Bish (Richard) of Virginia Beach, VA, Mary Hawkes (Thomas) of Danielsville, Lou Waggoner (Steve) of Watkinsville, Shirley Smith (Bill) of Winterville, Marjorie Williams of Diamond Hill, Hazel Bridges (Dennis) of Nicholson, Sara Coker of Colbert, Etta Gurley of Diamond Hill, Marie Gee of Colbert, and Barbara Gurley of Diamond Hill; brothers, Frank Gurley (Brenda) of Diamond Hill, James Gurley of Danielsville, Denver Gurley (Laurie) of Diamond Hill, and Howard Gurley (Carol) of Watkinsville; as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Miller will be held in the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, with Rev. Herman Nations, Rev. Kenneth Segars and Rev. Lou Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Hull. The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until funeral hour on Tuesday. During other times, the family will be at their respective homes. Pruitt Funeral Home in Royston, GA is in charge of arrangements.
